Global Conference on Doping in Sport 2025

Communiqué

Montreal, December 15, 2023

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is asking its stakeholders to add to their calendars the date of the Sixth World Conference on Doping in Sport which will now take place from December 1-5, 2025 in Busan, Republic of Korea.

En May 2022, the WADA Foundation Board selected the city of Busan for the World Conference. At the time, the event was tentatively scheduled to take place in November 2025; however, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have postponed it to early December 2025.

The World Conference brings together athletes and more than 1.500 representatives from the sports movement, governments, national and regional anti-doping organizations, laboratories, service providers, researchers and media – all of whom play a central role in the fight for sport without doping.

This edition of the World Conference will allow the anti-doping community to have substantive discussions and debates on the global anti-doping program, as well as anti-doping practices and processes. This will also be an opportunity to take stock of the progress made to achieve the Katowice Declaration (in English) of WADA 2019. The latter encourages “all stakeholders in the fight against doping in sport to intensify their efforts to strengthen their collaboration by all possible means, to form a united front with a view to eradicating doping in sport, to increase resources dedicated to protecting clean sport and to pursue all offenders, without compromise.”

To ensure the success of the World Conference and all associated activities, WADA is working closely with the authorities in Busan. To this end, an organizing team consisting of representatives from local government, sports and anti-doping authorities, as well as WADA staff, has begun planning.

At this stage, stakeholders are simply asked to take note of the new date. More details will be communicated in the coming months.
