A new world title in para triathlon

Triathlon

World Triathlon innovates. The international body announces the organization this year of the very first edition of the mixed relay world championship in para triathlon. It will take place on October 20 in Torremolinos, Andalusia (Spain). The discipline made its official debut in the international calendar in 2022, during the finals of the world championships in Abu Dhabi 2022, in the form of an open competition, with no title up for grabs. As for the valid event, integrated since the Tokyo 2020 Games into the Olympic program, the mixed relay pits teams of four Paralympic athletes, two men and two women, against each other. Each athlte must complete a full super-sprint triathlon: 125-150 m swim, 3,5-4 km bike ride, 800 m-1 km run. The total team time extends from the start of the race of the first athlete to the end of that of the fourth – and last – having covered the entire distance. The inaugural Para Triathlon Mixed Relay World Championship will take place as part of the Triathlon World Championship Finals.
