WADA expects record turnout for its 2024 World Education Conference

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce that its World Education Conference (CME) 2024 is poised to sell out, with more than 400 people joining the event to help advance education for clean sport protection.

La CME 2024 will be held from February 27 to 29, 2024 at Palais des Festivals de Cannes, in France, in partnership with the French National Anti-Doping Organization, theFrench anti-doping agency.

Participation will truly represent the diversity of the anti-doping community, with participants from all WADA geographic regions and all parts of the anti-doping ecosystem, including athletes, public authorities, the sports movement, the community experts and other stakeholder groups such as academia and research.

February 27: Social Science Research Symposium (SSR), regional conversations, OAD presentations and opening ceremony 

In connection with the CME, on February 27, several exciting events are scheduled. WADA will hold its first RSS Symposium withCôte d'Azur University, in Nice, France. The symposium, attended by more than 50 people from the RSS anti-doping community, will include sessions on contemporary RSS issues such as effective collaboration, conducting international and interdisciplinary research, engaging athletes as partners and defining future research priorities for a clean wrestling sport.

Back in Cannes, at the hotel Hilton Canopy, the AMA will host regional conversations – an opportunity for participants to come together with members from their region to discuss education-related issues – in conversation with Kady Kanouté Tounkara, chair of the AMA Education Committee, and Amanda Hudson and Tom May, WADA Directors of Education and NADO/RADO Relations respectively. Following these discussions, Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) will present their latest educational initiatives in an interactive manner.

The last event of the day will be the GCE opening ceremony at Palace of Festivals, during which WADA President Witold Bańka, AFLD President Béatrice Bourgeois and French dignitaries will speak.

February 28 and 29: Conferences, “Parfums de France”, gala dinner and closing speeches 

Le Programs of the conference on February 28 and 29 is full of rich and varied sessions: from the fundamental principles of educational programs and plans to the use of behavioral sciences to promote the values ​​of clean sport, including nutritional supplements and involuntary doping, there will be interesting and informative content at every turn. The GEC will also be an opportunity to discuss more broadly the Global Education Agenda as well as the evolution of International standard for education.

Of particular note is that on February 28, our kind hosts, the AFLD, organized a “Parfums de France” event and gala dinner; and on February 29, WADA Director General Olivier Niggli will deliver the closing speech.
