Is South Africa preparing a bid for the Summer Games in 2040? At this stage, nothing is official yet, but the newsletter The Sport Examiner reports that a delegation from the private sector, named “ CapeTown2040″, will travel to Paris on a mission during the 2024 Summer Games. Objective: observe how the French capital has adapted to host the event. It will only be a think tank, formed with the ambition to determine how Cape Town could embark on the adventure of bidding for the Games in 2040. South Africa has never before organized the Olympic Games, but Cape Town had tried its luck for the 2004 edition, ultimately awarded to Athens.
