London broke its records

Athletics

The organizers of the London Marathon can rub their hands: the 2024 edition, held on Sunday April 21, broke records again. More than 53.000 runners have completed the event, a total never before reached in more than forty years since the creation of the race. Last year, there were 43.965 participants who completed the 42,195 km London course. The organizing committee recorded 65.725 registrations. In total, 54.281 runners took the start, with a very small number of abandonments. The 44th London Marathon also set a new world record for fundraising, with more than £67 million ($82 million) raised, a figure expected to rise further during the week.
