China is moving forward in force towards the Paris 2024 Games. A habit. Announced by the latest analysis from the Gracenote firm in second place in the medal rankings, behind the United States, China has done its math: less than 100 days before the opening, it has already ensured the presence of its athletes in 165 events. The announcement was made on Wednesday April 17, at D – 100, by the General Administration of Sport (AGS). In badminton, for example, China is the only nation to have obtained two Olympic quotas in the five events on the program. Its participation is also already almost complete in weightlifting, shooting, gymnastics, diving and table tennis. In team sports, the women's basketball, field hockey and water polo teams ensured their qualification. The Chinese delegation should gain even more depth during the first of the two stages of the Olympic Qualifier Series, scheduled for May in Shanghai, a decisive competition on the road to the Games in climbing, skateboarding, breaking and BMX freestyle. The latest ranking established by Gracenote predicts China a total of 89 medals, including 35 gold.
