Still very uncertain as to the number of its athletes and the sports represented, the delegation of neutral athletes carrying a Russian passport at the Paris 2024 Games could well be enriched with several new names at the end of the week. According to the agency TASS, citing a press release from the International Canoe Federation (ICF), no less than nine Russians are entered in the European Olympic qualifying events in canoe-kayak sprint, scheduled for May 8 and 9 on the Szeged lake, in the southern Hungary. The Russian team will have six men and three women. Always according to TASS, the International Cycling Union (UCI) has granted neutral athlete status to 79 cyclists over the past 11 months, including 52 Russians. But last month, the body chaired by Frenchman David Lappartient refused to allow four Russian cyclist, including three women.
