A vote to extend Russia's suspension

Badminton

No change for the International Badminton Federation (BWF). Meeting at a general assembly in Chengdu, China, the body decided to once again extend the suspension of the Russian federation, until further notice. The president of Russian badminton, Andrey Antropov, was present at the general assembly. He explained at the end of the meeting that the decision to extend Russia's exclusion had been taken by vote, with 151 delegates voting in favor and 78 officials speaking out against the suspension. The Russian leader also assured, but without naming names, that he had received support during the general assembly of “ Asian and African participants ». The BWF was one of the rare international bodies not to follow the IOC's recommendation last year to reinstate Russian and Belarusian players under neutral status. Since then, it has reviewed its position and agreed to open the door to its competitions under conditions.
