World Beach Games

No white smoke for the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). Meeting in Athens the day after the handover of the flame between Greece and France, its executive committee once again looked into the delicate question of the World Beach Games. The body's events commission presented a report on its assessment of the competition concept, focusing in particular on how best to make the Games more flexible and commercially attractive. A report which was, it seems, not considered sufficiently convincing to outline a slightly less uncertain future for a multi-sport event organized only once – Doha 2019 – since its creation by ANOC. “ It was agreed that the commission would continue its study and present a report at the next meeting”, explains a press release from the body. To date, the World Beach Games still have no host country, and no declared candidate, for a second edition, the date of which remains unknown.
