FIFA Appeals Committee confirms suspension of Luis Rubiales, former president of the Spanish Football Federation

Communiqué

The FIFA Appeals Committee has ruled on the appeal lodged by Mr. Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), against the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee , which had imposed a ban on him from carrying out any activity relating to football at national and international level for a period of three years.

After analyzing the conclusions presented to it and organizing a hearing, the Appeals Commission decided to dismiss Mr. Rubiales's appeal, thus confirming the sanction imposed. Among other considerations, the Appeals Committee established that Mr. Rubiales had behaved in a manner contrary to the principles set out in Article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code during and after the FIFA Women's World Cup™ final .

The conclusions of the decision rendered by the Appeals Commission were notified today to Mr. Rubiales. Under the applicable provisions of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, Mr. Rubiales has ten days to request the reasons for the decision, which will, if applicable, be published on the legal.fifa.com portal. The decision can be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

FIFA wishes to reaffirm its commitment to protecting the integrity of each individual, as well as respecting the rules of good conduct.
