Big first: Indonesia will host the artistic gymnastics world championships next year. They will take place from October 19 to 25 in the capital, Jakarta, at the IMS Arena (pictured above). The fourth most populous country in the world, Indonesia has never organized the major event on the international gymnastics calendar. But Jakarta hosted the Asian Games in 2018, and the Indonesian authorities make no secret of their ambition to win the organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036. The last edition of the world championships was held last year in Antwerp, Belgium. After Jakarta in 2025, the next two editions have been awarded to Rotterdam for 2026 and Chengdu, China, for 2027. In a post-Olympic year, the artistic gymnastics world championships do not include team events.
