It's done. After months of discussions, and a serious conflict with several of its major countries, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has declared itself in favor of the centralization of media and broadcasting rights for the World Cup. The decision was taken following a vote by the Council of the body. It paves the way for the signing of an exclusive contract with the Infront agency, which will concern the rights on all platforms until the 2033/34 season. The takeover by the FIS of all the rights to the World Cup, which until then had been the property in certain cases of the national federations organizing one or more stages of the World Cup, had been one pillars of Johan Eliasch's campaign for the presidency of the FIS. But it was very criticized by several major European countries, including Switzerland and Austria, the most virulent even threatening to leave the World Cup. Comment from Frenchman Michel Vion, the secretary general of the body, quoted in a press release: “ Finally, the FIS can once again determine its own destiny. Centralization will ensure more value and revenue for all our members, it marks a big step forward in raising the standard of the FIS World Cup"
