FIFA worried about visas

2026 World Cup

Concern in the United States, two years and a few weeks before the 2026 Football World Cup. An article published in The Athletic reports that FIFA and US tourism authorities have already approached the White House on the issue of visas, particularly for visitors from Mexico and Colombia. They fear that the delays in obtaining the document will dissuade supporters from coming to attend matches planned in the United States. On average, the wait for a US visa is 800 days for Mexicans and 685 days for Colombians. But the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted with Mexico and Canada, is due to start in 772 days.
