The flame will burn at the Tuileries

Paris 2024

The secret is lifted. 120 days before the opening of the Paris 2024 Games, it is now certain that the Olympic flame will not burn in a stadium, as has long been tradition, but in the heart of the French capital. It will be installed in the Jardin des Tuileries (photo above), between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Several options were considered and discussed by the COJO and Paris City Hall, including the courtyard of the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, before the final choice of the Tuileries. In this very general public configuration, the flame will burn in the immediate vicinity of one of the competition sites, the urban sports cluster at La Concorde, where 3×3 basketball, BMX freestyle, breaking and skateboarding will be grouped together. On the other hand, the location of the cauldron during the lighting of the torch by the last torchbearer, Friday July 26, during the opening ceremony, remains a well-kept secret.
