The torch relay passed the test

Paris 2024

The OCOG Paris 2024 ticked a new box on its progress chart last weekend. It concerns the torch relay. As for the sites and sporting events, a full-scale test was organized to test in the field, in conditions close to reality, the progress and protocol of a stage of the course. The OCOG had chosen the Aube department for this highly publicized training, not far from Paris, with Troyes as the arrival city of the last torch bearer. The casting brought together around 400 actors – the Paris 2024 teams, the local host communities, the two sponsors of the relay (Coca-Cola and BPCE), the sports movement and State services – and mobilized 90 supporters of the flame. Clarification: the test was carried out with an unlit torch, IOC rules stipulating that the Olympic flame cannot be seen before being officially lit in Olympia on April 16. The route taken, on the other hand, was essentially the same as that planned during the relay day on July 13 in the department. A departure from Clairvaux Abbey in Ville-sous-la-Ferté, an arrival in Troyes, passing throughout the day by the Roger-Couderc stadium in Nogent-sur-Seine, the Nigloland amusement park in Dolancourt, the 3 Waves Swimming Pool in Romilly-sur-Seine, or the banks of the Lac d'Orient in Mesnil-Saint-Père.
