Egypt in 2027, the DRC in 2031

African Games

The IOC is emulated in the Olympic movement. The Association of African National Olympic Committees (ACNOA) announced it on Saturday December 9: it awarded two successive editions of the African Games at once, without trying to choose between the two competing countries. Following a meeting between the President of ANOCA, Mustapha Berraf, the Egyptian Minister of Sports, Ashraf Sobhy, and his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), François-Claude Kabulo Mwana Kabulo ( photo above), it was decided that Egypt would host the African Games in 2027, then that the multi-sport event would be held four years later in the DRC. Like the IOC for the Winter Games, ANOCA chose to declare the two countries winners, without being beaten. With this award, the DRC is already ensuring the legacy of the Francophonie Games, organized this year in Kinshasa. The next edition of the African Games, awarded to Accra, the capital of Ghana, was to be held this year, but it was postponed until March 2024.
