The UWW opens a double investigation

The International Wrestling Federation (UWW) announced that it had opened not just one, but two investigations, following the allegations of corruption of judgesuttered by Italian wrestler Frank Chamizo (photo above) last week, during the European Olympic qualifying tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan. “  United World Wrestling set up two different panels to independently and separately analyze the refereeing decisions, including protest decisions, from the match between Frank Chamizo (Italy) and Turan Byramov (Azerbaijan), explains the instance. Each jury will be composed of three members, respectively the president of the arbitration commission and two experts, and three members of the Bureau with expertise in arbitration and international wrestling regulations. Additionally, the President of the UWW Disciplinary Chamber will appoint a three-member panel to review the results of the ongoing investigation into allegations of attempted bribery and alleged violation of the integrity of our sport. This panel will decide what disciplinary action to take in this matter. The UWW is fully committed to thoroughly investigating and clarifying all aspects of the 74kg semi-final bout between Chamizo and Bayramov, to ensure transparency and preserve the integrity of the fight. »Declared the winner at the very end of the match, Turan Byramov qualified for the Paris 2024 Games.
