Laure Manaudou as second torchbearer

Paris 2024

The information is revealed by RTL: Laure Manaudou (photo above) will be the second torchbearer, and the first French, in the journey of the Olympic flame for the Paris 2024 Games in Greece. The triple Olympic medalist at the Athens Games in 2004 will receive the torch from a Greek rower, Stefanos Ntouskos, single scull gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Games, Tuesday April 16 in Olympia, the cradle of Olympicism. Laure Manaudo will then transmit it to a Greek torchbearer for the rest of the journey, which will end on April 27 in the port of Piraeus, where the flame will board the Belem to reach Marseille. The choice of the former swimmer is not surprising, Laure Manaudou being one of the godmothers of the flame's journey in France. But it could well exclude her from the candidates for lighting the flame, Friday July 26, during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games.
