The International Olympic Committee launched the third edition of the Sport and Environment Prize at the end of March, on the occasion of International Water Day and the United Nations year of water cooperation. This award, established in 2009 by the IOC Sport and Environment Commission, rewards the initiatives of individuals, groups or organizations in favor of the environment within sporting communities.
National Olympic Committees, International Federations, Continental Associations and other organizations can submit their nominations for this award. Its award ceremony will take place in Sochi, from October 30 to November 1, 2013, on the occasion of the 10th edition of the IOC World Conference on Sport and the Environment.
