An important decision was taken by the 23rd Congress of the European Athletics Association (AEA), meeting on April 13 and 14 in Skopje, Macedonia: the creation of the European Cadet Championships. This new event, the global version of which has existed since 1999, will be held every two years from 2016. Europe is therefore imitating Africa, whose first continental championships reserved for cadets are planned this year in Nigeria.
