The Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York, will experience a new lease of life. The establishment in charge of its management and maintenance (ORDA) has given the green light to a vast modernization plan. Work is expected to begin in November 2019, to be completed during 2022, in time for the World University Winter Games in 2023. The project, whose cost is estimated at $100 million, provides for the renovation of the Olympic figure skating, ice hockey and speed skating venues used during the Winter Games in 1932 and 1980. This will be the first modernization of these facilities since the Lake Placid Games in 1980.
