The young will make up the numbers

Boxing

The IOC wants it to disappear and is struggling to achieve it, but the International Boxing Association (IBA) is still breathing. And it is not short of breath. The body announces that it has recorded a record participation in the next world youth championships, scheduled from October 22 to November 3 in Budva, Montenegro. No fewer than 660 young boxers are entered by 88 countries. The last edition of the world meeting of the next generation of Olympic boxing, organized in 2022, brought together 598 athletes from 73 nations. The competitions will take place at the Mediterranean Sports Center, a complex already used by the IBA for the European Women's Championships in 2022 and the European Under-23 Championships the following year. Explanation of this massive participation: the IBA has decided to cover the hotel expenses of all the boxers entered, plus those of three coaches per national team.
