The year of France

Rowing

French rowing will not wait until 2024 and the Paris Games to be at full speed. The European Rowing Confederation confirmed this week during its general assembly in Munich, on the sidelines of the European Multisport Championships: France will host three European meetings in 2023. The series will begin in Paris with the European indoor championships, then will continue in Brive-la-Gaillarde with the European under-19 championships, to end in La Seyne-sur-Mer with the European sea rowing championships and beach sprint. The continental body also awarded the organization of the senior European championships in 2023 to the Slovenian city of Bled. Finally, the 28 European nations present at the general assembly proceeded to the election of the Swiss Neville Tanzer as a new member of the board of directors. He was competing with Greek Ioannis Vampras for the only vacant seat. Neville Tanzer will succeed Serbian Nebosja Jevremovic, a historic figure in European rowing, whose mandate ends at the end of 2022.
