World Sailing reviews its calendar

Sailing

The International Sailing Federation (World Sailing) is reviewing the organization of its calendar. It has decided to group its world championships into two separate events for the 2026/2027 season. All solo boat classes (Formula Kite, IQfoil, Laser, Laser Radial) will take place in Valencia, Spain, during the summer of 2026. The Polish city of Gdynia will host the crew categories of two athletes (470, 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17). The competitions will take place in 2027. They will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the creation of the city. Both world championships will enter the qualification process for the Los Angeles 2028 Games. World Sailing's goal: to reduce costs for organizers and increase public and media interest.
