The exercise has become ritual. A few days before the end of the year, the International Rowing Federation (World Rowing) distributed its traditional trophies. They illustrate the universality of the discipline, three continents being distinguished. The prize for the male crew of the year was awarded to the German Oliver Zeidler, world single scull champion in 2023, author of a hat-trick in the World Cup. Among the women, World Rowing rewarded the British Emily Craig and Imogen Grant, undefeated throughout the season in the double sculls. The collective performance of the Netherlands at the world championships highlighted the work of the Italian Francesco Fossi, named coach of the year for 2023. Australia, for its part, inherits the para rowing crew trophy of the year, awarded to Nikki Ayers and Jed Altschwager (PR3 mixed doubles). The prestigious Thomas Keller Medal, one of the most coveted honors in world rowing, has been awarded to American Caryn Davies, a three-time Olympic medalist in the women's eight and four-time world champion throughout a career of twenty years, debuted at the junior world championships in 1999. Finally, Bulgarian rowing leader Svetla Otzetova was honored by World Rowing for her contribution to the development of world rowing.
