World Rowing wants to take root in Spain. Not just anywhere: in Andalusia and its capital, Seville. The international rowing body announces that it has awarded the Spanish city a whole batch of international events. Topping the list is World Rowing's annual trophy ceremony for three consecutive years, between 2024 and 2026. It will take place at the Pabellón de la Navegación. Seville will also host the world rowing coaches and sports medicine conferences in 2025 and 2026. Finally, the Spanish city will host the World Rowing Congress in 2025. Anything but a coincidence: World Rowing's decision comes a week later the announcement of the sponsorship by the provincial government of Andalusia of the Rowing World Cup.
