The World Boxing Executive Board has approved four new membership applications. The national boxing federations of Egypt, Gambia, Kiribati and Grenada join the ranks and further strengthen the momentum of World Boxing, which has now 72 membersThe instance will hold justly an extraordinary Congress on March 1st to allow its members to formally approve "a series of new requests"The 55 national federations that were confirmed as members at the previous Congress in November will be able to participate and vote. "World Boxing is committed to respecting the highest standards of governance and transparency, says President Boris van der Vorst. The Executive Council decided to hold this extraordinary Congress in order to ensure that there is no ambiguity as to the number of national federations that are confirmed members of World Boxing when the IOC meets at its next session in March." A clear implication as to the ambition of the instance ofobtain IOC recognition.
