World Athletics has already turned the page on the Paris 2024 Games. The international athletics body is looking ahead to its next event: the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo (September 13-21). Returning to Japan for the first time since Osaka 2007, the event has just welcomed a new partner. Unsurprisingly, it is Japanese. World Athletics has announced that it has signed an agreement with Otsuka Pharmaceutical. It plans to make one of its consumer products, POCARI SWEAT, the official ionic drink of the 2025 World Championships. Very on-trend: the partnership has a sustainable dimension, with Otsuka committing to several environmentally friendly initiatives, including the supply of recycled bottles, and their collection and recycling. With one year to go before the event, World Athletics has also unveiled the marathon and race walking courses. The events will start and finish at the Japan National Stadium. Both courses have been designed to “ to showcase Tokyo's unique charm, history and culture."
