World Athletics does business with Honda

Athletics

Great performance for World Athletics. The world athletics body has won what the IOC will soon lose: a partnership with a Japanese car manufacturer. It announced the signing of an agreement with Honda for the next outdoor world championships, scheduled for September 2025 in Tokyo. The manufacturer becomes the official global partner of the event. It will provide a whole fleet of electric vehicles as part of the official transport service of the competition. They will be used in particular for the marathon, but also for the transport of officials and athletes. Honda had never before been a partner of World Athletics. The 2025 World Championships will be the third organized in Japan, after Tokyo 1991 and Osaka 2007. As a reminder, the other Japanese giant of the automobile industry, Toyota, recently announced its decision to end its global partnership contract with the IOC at the end of the current year.
