As soon as the World Athletics Championships are over, the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow will be closed for renovations. A vast project intended to bring this historic venue, built in the 50s, up to FIFA standards in the run-up to the Football World Cup. Consequence: Moscow will not be able to organize an athletics event in the next three or four years.
