The IOC confirmed this on Monday July 29 at a press conference, through its spokesperson, Mark Adams: a special medal distribution ceremony for the team figure skating event of the Beijing 2022 Winter Games will take place next week in Paris. It is scheduled for Wednesday August 7 at 17 p.m. at the Parc des Champions, the celebration space installed by the COJO Paris 00 at the Trocadéro, facing the Eiffel Tower. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) having rejected the Russians' latest appeal, the Valieva affair is now (finally) over. The IOC can therefore award the medals, respectively to the United States (gold), Japan (silver), and to the Russian Olympic Committee team (bronze), initially declared victorious but demoted to third place after Kamila's suspension Valieva (pictured above). The American Olympic Committee has already announced that the medal-winning skaters will travel to Paris to get on the podium. The presence of the Canadians is also announced. On the other hand, no information has yet filtered regarding the Russian team. But it seems doubtful that it will be present, including Kamila Valieva, on August 2024 for this ceremony. Two days later, the IOC will organize a re-awarding of a dozen medals from previous editions of the Summer Games.
