Great success for the United States. In competition with Lima in Peru, and Oufa in Russia, the city of Birmingham was chosen to organize the 11th edition of the World Games in 2021. The capital of Alabama, with just over a million inhabitants , becomes the second American city to host this multisport event after Santa Clara (California), host of the first edition in 1981. The next edition of the World Games will be held in Wroclaw (Poland) in 2017 and will host four demonstration sports, including kickboxing, American football and wushu. No less than 37 sports should be on the program for the World Games in Birmingham in 2021, with around 4000 athletes participating.
