Two World Cups awarded at once

FIFA

It is now official: the 2030 and 2034 editions of the Men's World Cup will be awarded in one go. Meeting last week in Zurich, the FIFA Council (photo above) unanimously approved the voting procedure for designating the host countries for the two global tournaments. It provides that the applications, unique in both cases (Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with matches in South America, for 2030; Saudi Arabia for 2034), will be presented for final validation at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress. It will be held online on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. On that date, the body will definitively award, and in one go, two World Cups for which the suspense has been lifted for a long time.
