Two stages of the Continental Tour Gold in Africa

Athletes will see the world. The World Athletics Continental Tour Gold will have 13 meetings in 2025. The sixth edition of the circuit will be played on five different continents. Melbourne (Australia) will open the show on March 29, in presence of Letsile Tebogo, who caused a sensation in Paris by becoming Olympic champion in the 200 meters. After a stopover in Gaborone (Botswana), the athletes will meet in Tokyo May 18. The date has certainly been marked by a number of them since the Japanese capital will also host the World Championships, September 13-21.

Six meetings are planned in Europe: Zagreb (Croatia), Bydgoszcz (Poland), Hengelo (Netherlands), Turku (Finland), Ostrava (Czech Republic) and Szekesfehervar (Hungary). The circuit is completed by Nairobi (Kenya), Los Angeles (USA), New York (USA) and Beijing (China), scene of the final stage on September 7. The African continent will therefore host two meetings, which had previously only happened in 2023 (already in Gaborone and Nairobi). The Kenyan capital was the only stopover in Africa during the other editions of the Continental Tour Gold, in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024. Last year, « more than 20.000 athletes from almost 200 countries participated in the Continental Tour » as a whole, with a world record and more than 200 national records, underlines World Athletics.
