Bad business. According to our information, two female referees of the fencing events of the Paris 2024 Games, contested at the Grand Palais, were targeted with insults and death threats on social networks. They had officiated during the men's individual saber competition, marked by the anger of the Georgian Sandro Bazadze (photo above) against the judges after his defeat against the Egyptian Mohamed Amer. The beaten fencer had notably criticized the referee for not having explained his decision to him, an unjustified criticism, the judge having done so once as provided for by the regulations of the International Fencing Federation (FIE). A criminal report was recorded by the authorities. A complaint could be filed with the public prosecutor by the two referees targeted by the insults and threats.
