Twelve teams, four continents

Volleyball

Less than 40 days before the opening of the Paris 2024 Games (D – 38), the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has revealed the composition of the women's Olympic tournament. It will have twelve teams, six of which are European. Five teams qualified for the Paris 2024 Games via the FIVB world rankings, established on Monday June 17, at the end of the preliminary phase of the Nations League (VNL): China, Kenya, Japan, Italy and the Netherlands. Six others earned their ticket by finishing in one of the top two places in the three Olympic qualifying tournaments: the Dominican Republic, Serbia, Turkey, Brazil (photo above), the United States and Poland. Finally, its status as host country earned France a place in the competition, for the first time since the entry of women's volleyball into the Games program. The women's tournament will take place from July 27 to August 11 at the Arena Paris Sud. Note that the final will be held on the day of the closing ceremony, Sunday August 11, the day after the men's final.
