The International Climbing Federation (IFSC) organized its 11th Plenary General Assembly this past weekend in Tehran, Iran. The opportunity to bring together representatives from 34 member countries. A general assembly whose work and discussions often focused on the entry of climbing into the Olympic program at the Tokyo Games in 2020. “We believe that if the five proposed sports are accepted (by the IOC), they will add still in the interest of the Olympic Games", explained Marco Maria Scolaris, the president of the IFSC, specifying that he does not yet know the format that the climbing events could have in Tokyo in 2020. Climbing is among the five new sports proposed by the 2020 Games organizing committee, with surfing, karate, skateboarding and baseball/softball.
