Vitaly Stepanov, one of the “whistleblowers” behind the revelations about doping in Russian athletics, explained to the American channel CBS that he had sent no less than 200 emails and around fifty letters to the AMA over three years. A very intense correspondence which ultimately led the World Anti-Doping Agency to direct the Russian and his wife, Yulia, to the German channel ARD at the origin of the scandal. Former employee of the Russian anti-doping agency, Vitaly Stepanov also claimed that four Russian medalists at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games were doped.
