The World Weightlifting Championships are approaching, from October 2 to 11, in Forde (Norway), and the International Federation (IWF) has announced the composition of his team of refugee athletes. As in 2024, Ramiro Mora will be part of it. The 27-year-old Cuban had ranked seventh at the 2024 Paris Games, then tenth at the World Championships in Manama last December.
Yekta Jamali (20 years old), from Iran, is also selected again. Ninth at the Olympics, she then became the first refugee athlete to win a medal at an IWF event by placing third in his category at the Junior World Championships. Cameroonian Clémentine Noumbissi (34 years old) completes this list. African champion in 2021, she also won a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. These three athletes will be accompanied by Colombian Luz Adriana Soto as manager and Egyptian Hussein Elsettawi as physiotherapist.
