Three for a first. The first edition of the FIS Games, a sort of super world championship for all ski disciplines, scheduled for 2028, should be played out between three candidates. Switzerland, Norway and Slovenia have entered the race. All three countries registered their interest with the International Ski and Snowboard Federation before the October 31 deadline. Recently confirmed by the international body, the FIS Games must be held every four years from 2028. They will bring together for sixteen days all ski disciplines, Olympic or not (alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, skicross, freestyle, snowboarding). , freeride, telemark, speed skiing), plus Paralympic disciplines (para skiing and snowboarding). For the inaugural edition in 2028, the FIS will have to choose between Switzerland, where Saint-Moritz would be the main venue, Norway with Lillehammer, host city of the Winter Games in 1994 and the Winter YOG in 2016 , and Slovenia, where the project is based on the Planica and Kranjska Gora stations. The international body will soon begin a phase of dialogue and inspection with the three applicants. The final decision will be announced at the FIS Annual Congress in June 2024.
