The Women's World Cup against the pyramids

The event promises to be grandiose. The next edition of the Women's World Squash Championship, scheduled from October 23 to November 1, 2019, will take place in Egypt, with a glass court installed facing the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the jewels of ancient heritage. The project was made possible thanks to a three-way agreement between the Professional Players Association (PSA), the Egyptian company I-Events, and CIB Bank, title partner of the event. The global tournament will bring together 64 of the best squash players in the world. At stake, the world title and a prize money of 325.000 dollars. The Egyptian pyramids will serve as the backdrop to the competition for the first time since the Al Ahram Open in 2016. This will be the first World Championship organized in such a setting since 2006, when the Australian David Palmer dominated Frenchman Grégory Gaultier to win one of the greatest men's finals in history. With this organization, international squash authorities are continuing their efforts to showcase their discipline in some of the most legendary places on the planet. In recent seasons, a glass court has been erected in New York Central Station, at the top of the Shanghai peninsula, which overlooks the city's famous Bund, or in the Théâtre Graslin in Nantes, France.
