New. The organizing committee for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games has chosen to innovate for the reveal of the design of the Olympic torch. It will take place simultaneously in two countries on two continents. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 and the Commissioner General for Italy of the Universal Expo in Osaka in 2025. Next April, the Italians will present the torch at the same time at the Italy Pavilion at the Osaka Expo and at an event in Milan. The cities have been twinned since 1981. The Universal Exhibition is scheduled to be held from April 13 to October 13, 2025 in the Japanese city, host of the 2007 World Athletics Championships.
