The ecological revolution is underway in the world of badminton. The international federation of the discipline (BWF) announced this week its decision to replace feather shuttlecocks with a synthetic model from next year in the tournaments on its calendar. The BWF explains that it has worked with its official supplier, the Japanese brand Yonex, to develop a synthetic model with performance equal to feather shuttlecocks. An experimental phase was conducted last year over three international tournaments. According to the BWF, tests revealed that this new, more durable material would reduce the number of shuttlecocks used in competition by a quarter.
