Patience. The IOC Executive Board announced it at the end of the first day of its last meeting of the year, Tuesday 3 December: we will have to wait until 2026 to know the complete and definitive sports programme for the 2030 Winter Games in the French Alps. The final decision on the sports included in the Olympic event will be taken by the Executive Board at the end of 2025. But the decision on the new sports, proposed by the OCOG, is expected for the following year. It will be up to the session of the body. In the meantime, Lausanne has established the selection criteria for the sports programme. They give priority to reducing the cost and complexity of hosting the Games, the safety of the athletes, the attractiveness of the disciplines at a global level, gender equality, integrity and fairness, and finally environmental sustainability. Seven sports have already been approved by the IOC session last July in Paris: biathlon, bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey, luge, skating and skiing. Additional sports may be added to this. They will be proposed by the French OCOG, but will have to respect the same criteria set by the IOC.
