Heads continue to roll in Japan in the corruption scandal linked to the Tokyo 2020 Games. A Tokyo court convicted, on Tuesday June 6, two former managers of one of the partners of the organizing committee, the manufacturer of Sun Arrow plush toys. The company's former president, Taiji Sekiguchi, 50, and his father, Yoshihiro Sekiguchi, 75, received suspended prison sentences of one year. They are accused by the courts of paying around 2 million yen ($14.000) in bribes to a former member of the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee, and former director of the advertising agency Dentsu, Haruyuki Takahashi. The two convicts of the day are not the first since the start of the long series of corruption at the Tokyo Games. They join a long list of 15 people charged with bribing Haruyuki Takahashi in exchange for his influence in partnership negotiations. Five of them have already been found guilty. Sun Arrow had obtained the right, via its partnership contract with the organizing committee, to produce and market the plush versions of the two mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Miraitowa and Someity.
