Long absent from the international calendar, the United States wants to find a real place there. After obtaining the organization of the Junior World Championships in Eugene in 2014 and the indoor world championships in Portland in 2016, they now aim to host the outdoor World Championships in 2019. A candidacy file could soon be submitted for the city of Eugene, Oregon, long considered the athletic capital of America. The United States has never before organized the world athletics championships. The IAAF's decision on the host city of the event in 2019 should come next fall. Doha and Barcelona have already announced their candidacy.
