The month of May is announced

Wrestling

The International Wrestling Federation has announced that May will be wrestling month. It therefore encourages its 177 members to organize competitions and other activities to promote sport locally and internationally. An additional step in the campaign led by the fight to try to return to the Olympic Games, after its ouster a few months ago.

“This month will celebrate both our past and the future we want. Many countries will announce their events and initiatives for this month of May in the coming weeks,” said FILA President, Nenad Lalovic.

As a reminder, wrestling will have to re-present its candidacy before the IOC executive commission on May 29, in St Petersburg, where it will then compete with the 7 other candidate sports for the 2020 Olympics: baseball-softball, karate, roller skating, squash, wakeboarding and wushu.
