The IOC has done its sums. They are precise. No fewer than 24.171 media accreditations have been validated for the Paris 2024 Games. A little less than a quarter of them (5.733) have been granted to the written and photographic press, representing 2.113 press organizations from 146 countries. The others have been awarded to 18.438 representatives of broadcasters and to OBS, the IOC subsidiary in charge of producing images of the Games. Unsurprisingly, the profession remains predominantly male, with only 23 % of female journalists accredited for Paris 2024. The least feminine category is that of photographers, with only 15 % accredited. The percentage of women is significantly higher among press officers, where it is between 39 and 45% depending on the category. But the IOC cites the example of Reuters, one of the press agencies recognized by the body, where parity is close: 51% men and 49% women among photographers, and 57% men for 43% women across the entire contingent.
