Promising start for the Volleyball Foundation. The new creation of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) was officially launched last weekend during a ceremony in Lausanne, at the body's headquarters, in the presence of Thomas Bach (photo above). On the program for the evening, a live and online auction of objects and souvenirs related to volleyball, offered by the FIVB and by personalities of the discipline. Intended to raise funds for the foundation, it collected the sum of 59.000 Swiss francs. Modest. But by adding the 300.000 Swiss francs allocated by the FIVB, the 100.000 pounds offered by the CVC Foundation, and the contributions of the Thai Khunying-Patama Leeswadtrakul, member of the IOC, and Craig Carracer, member of the board of directors of the FIVB and president of Volleyball Australia, the launch party ultimately brought in 559.000 Swiss francs. The FIVB plans to allocate an annual budget of one million Swiss francs to the Volleyball Foundation in 2025 and 2026, in order to finance local initiatives for the development of the practice around the world.
