The first country to have 3000 medals

United States

Historical. With its harvest of medals in the swimming events of the Paris 2024 Games, the United States reached a new limit this week which sets it even further apart from the rest of the planet. They now have an astronomical total of 3.000 medals since the creation of the modern Games. This result will undoubtedly be greatly exceeded by the end of the Games, thanks in particular to the expected performances of Team USA in athletics. The Americans crush the competition, since they have more than double the medals totaled by the two other countries in the top 3: the Soviet Union (1.204) and Germany (1.058 medals). At the 2024 Paris Games, the United States surpassed another historic mark on Wednesday July 31: the mark of 600 medals won in swimming. Here too, the gap with the rest of the nations proves to be abysmal, with the Americans totaling a number of podiums more than twice that of Australia, ranked second in history.
